I've "heard" the TDI's wont be available until 2007 or 2008 in the Golf/Rabbit.

I don't think my source was very reliable though.

I have heard there will not be any diesels at all coming in the next year or two so I think that there may not be any MK5 Rabbit diesels at all

^ as was said at the SCFC meet, no more TDI's in the near future until they figure out emisions. Way to shoot yourself in the foot VW!

Actually, it's the Sulfur levels in our diesel that are to blame. I think VW is just not going the "extra mile" to make their cars meet emissions.

The ULSD regs were supposed to be in effect this year, but some whiners lobbied to have that pushed back to, you guessed it, 2008. THat's why you probably won't see another TDI in Canuckland until 2008.5 or 2009.

In part it is due to the trucking industry as it will cost them more to operate but all in all I think VWoA is just being paranoid, tehy already don't sell TDI's in 3 or 4 of the states but they sell a heck of alot in canada with a strong following and they want to go ahead and throw that away?

As far as I know ULSD is still on schedule to be rolled out by October.
