    Re: No more Golfs?????

Hmmm, if you put together the MKVI photos and the new Rabbit you've broken the line into an affordable Golf ie Rabbit and a new Golf which is upmarket. The GTI fits above that with a forthcoming R36 as the creme de la creme.

VWs gonna market the hell out of the MKV, four models!

Personally I think they have lost their minds. The "Rabbit" brand has a distincly negative view is the general public's mind.

Did you have some facts to back this statement? I have yet to meet a VW enthusiest who does not like the MK1 or the original Rabbit GTI.

          Re: No more Golfs?????

I like the Rabbit name, from a marketing standpoint I think that it could be a good thing to stimulate sales because its fresh and its unique, two words that I think a lot of people identify when they think VW.

Like vwsalesguy said, I know a lot of dubbers who have a certain regard for the Rabbit GTI. My 2 cents...

bring over the goddamn Lupo or Polo and have done with it. VW is comitting suicide by not bringing it over and having to compete with the Yaris, and other small Japanobiles

We have the MK4 golf and jetta as an entry level car starting around $14,000. This will be the "city" program coming later this summer. IMO the Mk4 golf and jetta are way more car that the Yaris or any other appliance on wheels.

I do agree that the MK4 City program is going to be fantastic value compared to some other cars, but some people would still prefer something smaller

What engine is in these cars?

i think the city program would b good but i hope that doesnt cause the value of older mk4 1.8t's and vr6's to decrease in value significately

                        Re: No more Golfs?????

If they dump the price on these "city" cars which is basically what they have been selling for $20k+ does everyone really thing the quality is going ot be there? All VW needs right now is a model that is not reliable and their name will go even farther into the toilet.

That statement couldn't be further from the truth.

I said "General Public". They think of it as a cheap low quality rust bucket.... Go ask someone. I'm not saying I agree, but it is bad marketing.
