So...was just locking up my car to go to school for the morning and happened to glance back at the passenger's side door...what do I see? I big white and blue line on line about 2" high along the lower quarter of the door. Upon further inspection, I see that it's also pushed in about 1/4 - 1/2" along the length of the "line". No note, no confrontation, nothing. Chicken #$*! just left without a word. Thing is, I rent a parking spot, and there's a blue car that parks beside me. This car's there like 24 hrs a day, but it seems to have mysteriously vanished since this morning. Went to the body shop, and they say about $800 to fix it. Of course I'll be claiming it, but still $100 I could've used somewhere else. Here's hoping I can nail this woman before she fixes the damage on her car. I can't stand other drivers...if you can't drive, park it! Sorry...had to vent somewhere...

Re: Hit & Run
It's called Saskatchewan drivers. Nobody can drive worth **** here so stuff like this happens all the time. I can't even describe some of the stupid shiz I've seen in the past weeks. Do people realize that RED means STOP? Every single idiot on the road seems to think that RED = GO!
Can't wait to get the F out of here for this year. 2 weeks left.

Re: Hit & Run
Make sure you do your math before you call your insurer -- if it costs $800 to fix, and your insurance ends up going up several hundred dollars a year to make the claim for the next 5 years (the length most companies will increase your rates after making a claim), you're better off in the long run NOT claiming it and paying the extra $700 out of pocket.
As a young innocent I once called insurance to repair a window that was broken. Window would have cost me $100 or so to fix. But claiming it, insurance went up $200 or more a year for the next 5 years. That $100 cost me $1000 -- I would have been better off just paying for it.

Re: Hit & Run
So...thought I'd update everyone on the situation. I got a call from my girlfriend Saturday morning saying that the car was back in the parking lot. I rushed over there with camera in hand, as well as a measuring tape. I found a large rub on the front driver-side bumper. The paint was missing (because it's now on my car), and all the measurements were a spot-on match to the ones on my car. I must've taken thirty pictures to make sure I have a solid case. Left a nasty note on the windshield and now just waiting for a response and - hopefully - some money. I can't believe the balls of this woman...she parks beside me; does she think I'm too retarded to figure out that she hit my car? Wow. Some people's kids. Hopefully everything works out.'02 Jetta 1.8Tuuurbo

Re: Hit & Run
Cops won't do anything, I know I have went that way before. i had a neighbour ding my car many times (10+) I even got his number and phoned him and he admitted it then said I parted to close to him yadda yadda and that he shouldn't have to pay for all of it. I talked with the cops over and over and they did nothing. All in all I got screwed and unless she is a better person then that a$$ you are %&% out of luck.Name: Brent

Re: Hit & Run
Originally posted by DerickYeah, I had the same thing happen to me and I caught the lady right in the act of dinging my door. When I confronted her, she cussed me out, shrugged it off, and just walked away. I phoned the police (Calgary police btw) and they said that unless you can prove the act to be "malicious" then they can't do anything So basically, yeah, it's out of pocket or your insurance and you get screwed.Name: Brent
