Well, if I was planning on putting a car in shows (and I think you are) I would probably try for a brand name tire, I just think it's better for a show. It's kinda like sinking tons of money into a car and then putting cheap wheels on it. But maybe i'm the only one that thinks that way? I'm sure the nexans are good but won't score you any cred at a show. That's not to dis anyone that's not running "brand name" tires but i'm sure that's the kinda thing they will look at.

As for performance, I can't really help you I just heard the T1-s tread life is not great so that might be something to consider.

I don't know if this made any sense

If its a show car get showy tires. If its a track car get grippy tires. Etc.

Just be aware, yoko's are known for very stiff sidewall so you may not get a nice looking stretch. I had yokos (older model though) and they were extremely stiff. I had 205/45/16's (I wanted 40's but these were a really good price=430 mounted, balanced, installed)

what's you're budget? Around 100 a tire? honestly, you should be able to find something so I wouldn't worry too much about being on a budget (who isn't).

Some of the tires the mk3 guys typically run are Toyos (obviously, but they are also known for a nice stretched look), Falken Ziex sumthingerothers (512?), Dunlop Sp's (I think there are 7, 8, and 9000 series), Dunlop FM901's (cheap, look good and last for a long time) and I think there are more, just can't remember. Of course, if you already knew all this I apologize.

                Re: Rubber

Falkens definately stretch like nuts. I've got 225's on my 8" wide wheels and they are deeeeeeecent!

I just got the T1R's last week. They look nice and kinda stretchy, even for a 235 series tire. I'll have to wait and see about the tread wear as time goes by though... But for $800 mounted and everything included, I had to jump on them.

I heard the same thing about better treadwear on the T1R's. But some buddies here who drive them say they're about the same, despite what the corporate literature says I got about 30-35k on the T1S's (I dont drive hard or race or anything like that) and they still had about 25% left on them. I probly would have rode them till I hit steel belt, but I had a non-repairable puncture on the freeway and thought I might as well replace all of them at the same time.

Well I guess with our winter wonderland here 30k could probably translate to 3 seasons depending on how you rode on them so I guess "not so bad".

Yeah, not so bad for a moderately driven daily driver. But looking at the other extreme, I think I recall Simon getting less than a summer out of them due to his autocrossing? lol
