This was true years ago when TSW's were made for the European market where softer wheels were the norm (at the higher speeds of European highways the idea is that if you hit something at these high speeds, it is better to bend a wheel and be able to pull over and stop, than it is to break a wheel (as happens with very hard hits on heat treated wheels like in N. America) and lose control at high speeds...
Over the last few years, TSW has been heat treating all their wheels for the N. American market so this is no longer an issue...
In the end, either manufacturing method works fine if you don't hit things... lol
