  • Forge 007 Installed - Thx Peter

I just want to thank Peter for installing a new Forge 007 diverter valve in my car. It seems to be running smoothly and beautifully, and definitely looks stronger than the plastic oem one we took out.

Peter: I took off my engine cover this morning, and indeed it HAD been rubbing on the top hose. There is a worn mark on the hose and likewise the plastic on the inside of the engine cover is worn! I don't want it to rub a leak into the hose eventually, so I hacked it by putting a tiny piece of duct tape onto the hose so hopefully the tape gets the friction instead of the rubber hose. I also dobbed a bit of lithium grease on to maybe help it. I'll check it in a few days.

If anyone is thinking of getting a diverter valve, I ordered mine through Texas Speedworks for $180CAN ($135US) including shipping (FedEx charged $10 tax upon arrival). It came in about 3 days.

It might be all in my head but I do think I can feel a difference. Sounds a bit different for sure.

Haha thanks Mike! Its not fast I just drive it really rough. Maybe someday it will be freakishly fast AND chipped.

What exactly will this forge 007 do? Sorry but if you are not chipped or creating more boost somehow I don't understand why you would replace the stockie. I have to apologize for my ignorance...I'm a 1.8t newbie!:urspecial

changing the stock diverter valve is essential in our cars. The DV holds boost levels during shifting. When it starts to leak you start to lose power. Some chip tuners like APR suggest going with a TT DV since they are a cheap part although apparantly the 02+ 1.8T's all have the new TT DV's so that is pointless now.

somebody add to this if I messed anything up on it.

                    Thanks for your replay Ryan!!
I'm going to chip the car at one point and time and I know I have to replace a few things, thats why I was wondering why people were replacing the dv's on non chipped cars!
Any more help would be appreciated!
                    Cheers

I replaced mine in 'preparation' of chipping. So I will eventually be chipped. Actually I ordered an extra ECU and the DV at the same time, the ECU is just taking a long time to get here.

Sure I could have upgraded the DV later. In my case if I don't buy it now I probably won't have the money later because I will spend it on other mods! Also I don't want to have to worry that my DV might fail, now I know for sure that if I have any probelms its not a faulty or broken DV.

nah the stock DVs can go bad so its good that you got one already kris.. umm blair or chris at one meet said they had a stock one fail on them

edit.. i mean stock ECU settings and just driving hard caused stock DV to die.

PS: I am convinced that the turbo sound is different with this DV too...

Did you install the 007 reversed? I believe it sounds better and holds better - but check forge's website for sure.

I was all set on getting a new DV, but some of the hardcore 1.8T guys show the stock getting the best performance. They wear out quicker, but since they are cheap you just replace them just like you would your spark plugs.

Are you that hardcore? The only bad thing I have to say about Forge is that I can't really get my engine cover to fit without rubbing on any hoses now.

Reversed: I have heard mized reviews about this. More bad than good though. Would definitely fit better...
