  • Phatnoise Issues...

Anybody come up with a simple solution to the static noise associated with the PhatBox yet? Oh, and what about this "I don't work in cold weather" shizz?

Yeah, twice I this winter mine hasn't worked because of the cold weather... Not sure what to do about it but I just take the cartridge out for good measure.

if you have a laptop, let it freeze along with the phatbox, it won't work either.

The hard drive gets too cold to work, notice that on my portable HD mp3 player also.

the static noise has something to do with grounding - on the vwcdpic they use 10 ohm resistors to ground in the audio lines, - I think.

To my knowledge the conventional explanation for the buzz is a poor ground. Does it change with rpm's? Anybody have an idea on how to test a ground?

00 Golf NON-Monsoon stereo, phatbox is on top of my spare tire and I have never had a freezing problem, or static issues.

I should also add that my 03 buzzed when I used the Alpine CHD-634 changer and blitzsafe adapter that didn't buzz in my 00 GTI GLX w/o Monsoon.

Yeah, mine does follow the "pitch" of the revs/RPM. Maybe I should take the damn thing back. How much warranty do these things have?

I'm pretty sure that's a weak ground but have no idea what to do about it, have you checked vortex? Nobody seems to be chining in...I do know there are some experts here...
