    Neither.

    Keep your stock intake.

Ya,like today i just lifted my air box a little and revved my car, and i loved the engine and turbo noice then the big pssshhhh sound after. So cai would be best for that? or short ram intake? and whats makes u say the stock box is really good? what about the crapy factory filter?

Well, I switch beween both on a regular basis, depends on my tastes.....I like how subtle and quiet the stock box is, and sometimes I like the sounds of the CAI.....I do prefer the power with the stock airbox though, seems like it has more low end....

I have that too, and there is marginal difference......I may be convinced to part with my CAI if the price is right....

                  Re: CAI or Short Ram

I've got a 2003 GTI 1.8T with a K&N in my stock airbox. Never tried a CAI or short RAM but I'd recommend a Forge Samco turbo intake hose before either of those. People argue one way or another on the CAI/Short ram/Stock airbox, but the TIH gets pretty good opinions all the way around IMO.

                      Re: CAI or Short Ram

so i lifted my air box again today to try to simulate what it might be like with CAI. and the sound was great, but i did feel a slight loss in low end power. this what you guys are talking about? but then im not sure but it may of felt a tad fast in the high end. which is better to have? or makes ur car quicker? anything you can do to these cars other than CAI to keep the low end power but get the engine and pushhhh noice? any adivce would be great.

Chip....Best bang for you buck by far. I CAI might give you 5hp on the top end and cost over 300 bucks. You can get a chip for around 600 that will give you 40 (or more) and you won't lose any low end either!
