  • Aftermarket Receiver?

Anyone ever come up with a way to replace just the VW factory CD player with an aftermarket receiver...leaving the radio/CD changer/Phatbox control component (the lower one) in place? There's gotta be a way...

If you have a seperate din CD player that is essentially your cd changer to you can't hook up a phatbox or trunk cd changer anyways.

And this is available for the mkiv? Is some kind of subscription necessary? I'm sure an external antenna is needed...what does that look like? And the biggie...what's the price?

ya thats the other option, if you want aftermarket headunit, you'll need some kind of adapter to make it work with stock vw stuff.

I didn't get an email. What is the price for non-members? Is that price with tax? Also, is the GPS available in most cities (I'm in Saskatoon)?

GPS = Global positioning system that should answer your question.

Oh, I know what it means. Doesn't necessarily mean that there's a map of a small city like Toon Town uploaded to the system...

no, you have map cds which contain gps coordinates, then antenna sends that info the unit, and it shows where you are...

The map cd has coords of Saskatoon that are sent to the satellite via the antenna and the map shows up on the screen? How often do you have to put a cd in and how many cds are there?

Oh, and about this antenna...does it necessarily have to go on the roof? Is there some way to hide it so it's not visible?

                              Also, which cds are included?
