    Re: stealership wars

I took my car to SCFC a couple of months ago and the guys there did almost NOTHING right. A week or two following my visit there I got the phone call from the customer satisfaction folks and I went on for about 45 minutes to the gentleman about the run around and BS I was fed at Southcentre Fine Cars. I was told that on all negative comments the service manager phones the client personally and deals with the issue - that didn't happen.

I have had my letter to VWOC ready for some weeks now, however it has become unusually busy for me and I haven't gathered all the paperwork up to send to them.

Perhaps the term 'stealership' is unwarranted, fortunately I have plenty of other terms that describe my opinion.

p.s. I asked about the NVD discount at both the parts and service counter and was told "No, we cancelled that a long time ago."

It also should be noted that people don't come on-line and rant about it when they get expected service. I generally use NL because it's closer, and while I've never wanted to rave and praise (because really, if I'm in the dealer, something is probably wrong), I haven't had a hugely bad experience either. But 3rd or 4th last on JD surveys, vortex flooded with nightmare experiences replacing genuinely faulty parts (window regs, coils etc) is enough to sour anyone. Hell, a domain costs money yet this guy bothered: http://www.myvwlemon.com/ -- You really have to be pissed off to do that.

A pizza meet at SCFC would be great btw!

            Re: dealership wars

May as well put my words in here. I live in the deeeeeeeep SW so the closest place for me is SCFC. Have had the TDI for like 3 years now and have always bought my parts from there. Car is off warranty so I do all repairs/oil changes myself. I think the prices for oil filters/parts in general are fair, something like $17 for OEM stuff which is not bad IMO. I have bought a couple other minor things like missing covers, arm-rest latch, and other small stuff and I have never thought that the price is unfair. My visit for glow plugs on the other hand....wow....I was told $60 each for Bosch or $85 for Beru. I was rather surprised to hear this. I took a quick trip to Canadian Tire and picked up Bosch glow plugs for $29.99 each. That right there is a serious problem.

Service wise, I've only been there for the signal relay recall. Brought the car in, chatted with the doods in the service bay, they liked the mods, talked about modded vw's in general and I was out in less than 10 minutes. Paperwork was mailed to home address. Couldn't be happier.

I'll continue to support SCFC as I think the guys at the parts desk are great. If there is a serious issue with the price I think I will bring it to their attention next time I am in there. No harm in doing so IMO.

Well, I have to add I got my car back and fixed today from SCFC, and I was happy! The shuttle service was great (Ernie the first day, and we got rear ended!, and Mike the second) and quick, and the service got done when they said it would!! I'm super happy! Thanks again to Dave, Jamie, the shuttle guys, and anyone else who was involved in my little fiasco!

look we all dont like the cost of stuff going up, its called inflation. not much we can do about it. all 3 dealerships in calgary are low, for import. have any of you look at domestic shop rates? like the one dude said look at houseing prices. I dident like paying to have someone do work on my car, so i leaned the trade and do it myself. how ever it is a trade, like a plumer, who are also paid alot, but i can unplug my toilet. we have families to feed too. so think of that on the door rate. do your jobes do stuff for free? i try my best to help, but i still have too live

I dont mind paying if they do good work. I took my car to the dealer for an oil change and it was over filled by 1 litre.

With dealers (and any shop, imho) it's all about the report that you have with the techs.

In my previous life in Ottawa, I had an excellent raport with my mechanic (shameless plug for www.AdvancedAutowerks.ca ). every time i was in for something, even if it was a simple oil change, i brought them timmies double doubles. They gave me wicked service and prices.

With dealers, I find it's hit or miss. Totally depends on who you deal with. In ottawa, there were 3 dealerships in ottawa, two of which i would never allow anyone to open my hood. the good one had no problems doing warranty work in spite of any visible mods (oh, your aftermarket (insert exhaust/stereo/wheels/suspension) caused your maf to die. we're not covering it under warranty.

So far, my experience at SCFC has been great. a bit slow because of some insurance BS, but Jeremy and Dave have been great. (hoping to get a goodwill warranty on my driver's door window regs here, Dave )

                          Re: dealership wars

so i was having a bit of trouble with the BBQ the other day. i thought i could fix it myself cause they want like 100 bucks an hour to fix it. it was really tough to diagnose. i do have limited knowledge about BBQ's though. so i dropped it off for repair. those jerks never even gave me a loaner BBQ. they even charged me 100 bucks to tell me my tank was empty. that takes like 2 seconds. i could have done that. it wasn't even a cetrified BBQ tech that checked it out. some stupid apprentice BBQ tech. theres no way i'd pay for that. talk about BBQ stealership! i mean i dont know anything about it but that seems really outrageous. hmmm. paying for a service you need. can you believe you can get charged a fee for that?

so i was hungry and since my BBQ was at the shop, i thought i'd go to the keg for a steak. i heard they made good ones. so i waited at the door for someone to serve me, then i got to sit down where someone else served me. they asked me what i would like. i told them a steak. would you belive i had to pay 25 buck for it? i mean i'm sure the door girl is complimentary, and same with the server, but 25 buck for a steak i could have done at home in like 10 minutes? i guess i could have got a stelk from one of the aftermarket steak suppliers but they wouldn't cook it for me! wow. did i ever get ripped off. i thought services were free.

you have to pay for services. not a new concept. by the way, can i get someone over to my place to give me some computer help? i dont want some new guy, someone who really knows their stuff. i mean sure the old guy did the same training as the young guy but i wont pay the same rate for the same service. i think it was the chefs first day too so i asked for a discount. i dont want no one whos learning something to learn. i'd rather they sit and watch and then get their ticket. now thats worth paying for.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3

Nothing against you, Dave, but my experience today sucked.

Was hoping to get a goodwill recall on my failing driver's door window regulator. both the service manager and VWoC customer care denied it and I was quoted $250 for the parts only.

I went over to http://www.worldimpex.com/ and ordered the repair kit for $49.

and you still want to know why they're called stealerships?

by goodwill you mean your passenger reg failed and you wanted both replaced? Or you mean the driver one failed and they refused to warranty it?
