What are your experiences with a 19x8" rim size? I'm just asking because one of the rim sites I was on is saying that 19x8" is too wide for the Jetta...says I have to go 19x7.5"?? Is 19x8" possible?

    Re: Rims

My summer wheels are 17x8" and my car is quite low on coils. No rubbing what so ever. 19x8" should be fine.

It's all about offset, you can run a 19x11 on the rear's if you really want.

You want a wheel that has an offset of around +35 offset for an MK4. That is the most common offset and works great. For an explanation on offset just search google or check out www.tirerack.com for a good explanation. Basically, it is the distance from center of the wheel where the mounting surface of the wheel is (ie: how much off center the mounting part of the wheel will be from the actual CENTER width of the wheel)

I have 19x8's (offset +35) on 225/35/19s and am dropped almost 2 inches, no problemos here.

        and read this: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1776138

You're from Saskatoon right? Are you planning on running 19's in Saskatoon? It is a pain in the BUTTOCKS to run them. I rolled them for 2 months at the start of the school year and that was just scary at times. Roads are way too bumpy, way too many potholes, and worrying about theft when parking my car at school the odd time (or anywhere else...) drives me insane.

          Re: Rims

I've been riding on 235 x 35 x 19x8's for the last 8 months and haven't had any problems. I only rub in the front when im making really really sharp U-turns. I love the ride and would recommend it. I would agree with Nismodrifter (above) with the potholes :( but the ride is pretty good. I have H&R race springs installed and is pretty smooth. Slow2.0

Nismodrifter... is your Avatar your car? If so, that thing looks awsome. I wonder if mine rolls like that? Looking at your car makes me want to put my stock orange front bumper light back on .. take it easy... slow2.0

Yes it's my car. I purposely kept the orange bumper lights. Everybody says go clear or smoked but I think they look wicked orange.

                      Re: Rims

MK4 Jetta's and Golf's you can EASILY run 19x9.5's all the way around, and even a 19x9.5 on the rear without issue on stock chassis... Even lowered rarely creates an issue if the right tire sizes are used (225/35R19 or 235/35R19 front, and 265/30R19 rear)
