      Re: Insurance rates?

Here is what i paied for a golf 4 i was 19 no accidents and 2 tickets. it was 4800 per year full coverage about 5 years ago. Now what i found out about the insurance thing is since the goverment came in and said to stop screwing us on your rates that was only for PL/PD so what happened is they just cranked up the prices on colision. Im still kicking my self for getting the car i did. if i was you I's get something a little cheaper say under 7000 bucks and just get PL/PD. that way your insruance rates will be down quite a bit and if you wreak it wont be a huge hit on the wallet.

AMA not the best choiceunless you are insuring another car with it. Then it might be allright. I would look around...

Forgot to mention, That $1200 includes full coverage on a '98 grand cherokee also...

            Re: Insurance rates?

I did alittle more looking into AMA, collision alone on a 02 1.8t is 3425 a year. Woow thats insane so unless I can find another option I thinking knocking back to a MK3 is really the only feesable way to go. BTW I have looked elsewhere but nothing is below 4100/ year anyway.

Look into tool and pete. They are a broker, and found me the cheapest rates when I was younger. Seems to me ama were one of the most expensive.

                      Re: Insurance rates?

Crazy, well I am also glad i did not choose a newer car at 19-21 cause at that time ins. was soooo high, buit there was a new bylaw passed, cannot remember it though. i just gotan mkI stuck with that for almost a year then went to an mkII and insurance was lower cause i had nothing on me. YOU HAVE TO KEEP CLEAN for at leasy a year then you will be placed under other insurance companies (by your broker) at a wayyyyy cheaper rate. My girlfriend is 21 and she will be driving a 92 jetta with million and everything except collision. I have never gotten collision, only would i get it if i got an MKIII or 4. Parts are little more diff. to replace.

Well good luck to all and see ya at the track!!!

LOL you got lucky. if it was the acutal ins company then cool, but if it was a broker then you got lucky, you can goto the same Ins company and talk to different people and more then likely they will give you different quotes. Depending on wether or not you went a day later or a monthh later.

I don't feel so bad for my $1400 a year for full coverage and the deprication waiver on the 337. I am 24 with no claims or tickets.

See but no collision seems risky on those cars dont you think? I have found that state farm will give me insurance for about 2600-2800/ year with full collision so I am very pleased with that. Its just a matter of finally picking up an mk4 in the next week or so! Ill be considered the full/only owner on the mk4 by the way.
