ok, so the vw jack sucks. dropped the car.. rotor seems ok... everything is ok... i feel stupid. don't know what the hell happened. only jacked up the car like a million times. i was out of the way. i would never go under the car while on that jack anyways (got axel stands for that)... but todays safety tip:

If you aren't just changing a flat.... use a better jack.

To the couple of ya that told me to buy a jack months ago... yeah, i'll go get one.

was going to take a pic of it sitting on the road.. but felt too stupid to have the moment remembered visualy.

It isn't called the Widowmaker for nothing. Works fine on a flat surface on the correct mount position but will tip if you sneeze.

what sucks is that when you *really* need a jack, it's -30C outside, windy, and you're on the side of a single-lane highway in the rockies. Yay widowmaker!

Funny, I've jacked my car up on it lots, and even on inclines with no problem, I chock all the wheels and stuff though, but never a problem....My hydraulic jack doesn't fit under the car, neither do standard jack stands....

Yup, been there done that. We dropped my buddy's Jetta (the red Rieger one from WoW a few years back) with the stock jack. It was like watching a tree fall over in slow-mo. The car just started to shift to one side, Creaked and moaned a little, then hit the ground like a ton of bricks ..... No damage fortunately

Ouch! I feel for ya. I've only had to use my stock jack once... I was sketched out the whole time.
