OK, so I was out hitting the streets doing some photography tonight. Then I came across a film crew making a commercial (I'm assuming) for a Porsche Cayman. The thing is, the minute the crew saw me with my camera gear, they freaked! 3-4 of them immediately tried to cover the car with whatever they had, and eventually resorted to standing up around the car to obscure as much of it as possible and prevent me from getting a clean shot. One of the guys yelled for me to stop. To which I basically responded "Nice try. public street buddy. I'll shoot the car if I want to". He then looked at one of the police escorts who was directing traffic, and the cop just shrugged cuz he knew there wasnt anything they could do to stop me... Game on
But why the big hissy-fit and covert behavior? To my understanding, the Cayman is already available for sale is it not? I read that there's an "S" version coming out in 2007, but that's about it. Are we looking at a new version here?
Here's the car shortly after they tried standing around it. I snuck around and quickly snapped these haha
Note the enormous gaffer-arm dealy to which they mount the camera on. Its mounted just forward of the drivers-side rear wheel, underneath the chassis and extends around the rear of the car, and then up. Gives that fancy "everything is blurred except the car" shot.
Here you can see the actual mount for the arm. The parts of it that are within the camera's field of view (rear of the car) are constructed of plexiglass. I'm assuming because it makes it easier to edit out after filming.
And here's one of the crew frantically trying to mess up my shots LOL
So if you guys see a Cayman commercial in the near future. Remember you heard about it first on Eurodrivers
