  • Sick burning smell

Hey so im driving my jetta Mk4 1.8t around town today when i get a really gross smell coming through my heater vents. When i head onto whitemud (kinda like deer foot) the smell starts to fade away. I reach my garage and check under the hood, nothing seems to be burning i open the garage door and my hood to try and air it out. I come back a couple minutes later to realize the smell has only gotten worse...

PLEASE HELP ME! what could it be?
( im praying its not the clutch)

Didnt you just get the car? is there not like a 30 day warranty on it or something like that? My brother bought a truck from a used car lot and the tranny tasted like 6 months and they paid for it to be replaced at Dodge

what about the new shop posted in the forums? if there is no warrenty, maybe he can get you a little better rate, and maybe a lead on a lightly used clutch. (yeah.. used is scary, but i've always had good luck.) Of course, if money aint a thing... get an aftermarket clutch .
Friggin cars.. it's disheartening to have sh1t go wrong right away.

in first 2 months (all used cars):
                      1st car - 700$ in repairs
                      2nd car - 500$ in repairs
current car - 5000+ in repairs.. thank god for warrenty on that one!

You can get a VR6 clutch and a better flywheel installed for around 1100 bucks at C1 - definately avoid the dealer on this one, and buy a stronger part to boot.

When stock parts die - UPGRADE! It's usually cheaper.

im in edmonton so the du shops are more scarce here then in calgry... im thinking of getting an after market clutch and flywheel so that this problem can be fixed and i can go faster faster. haha
my first second post with he price quote was wrong ...it was a grand inclueding labor... still i think that is a really rtip off so im getting it done at EurAsia in edmonton...still have to check on that though...thanks for the pointers though
