Audi A8/S8

You can read the articles on audiworld about the new S8 but...the strange thing is why would one pay more for the S8 (5.2L v10, 450hp) when the A8 with the W12 engine has the same hp??

The S8 is around 100k USD, with a 7800.00 USD (!) option for a Bang & Olufsen stereo system...the stereo system in that car is pretty much equiv to the cost of my car used!

Still, for 100k, I'd want something faster than 0-60 in 5.1s, but maybe that's just me...

because the S8 is smaller than the A8 and the equiv of an M5 basically.. or close enough..

A8 is long wheelbase, while the S8 is the shorter wheelbase. Also the V10 will be alot lighter and more high revving than the w12 in the A8.

^^Exactly....Audi is just keeping up with their 'S' lineup from the 4 and 6 series'. The package has a much more 'sporty' feel and should be alot lighter.

You don't have to get the A8 as an A8L (long wheelbase)...but I guess mostly the differences must be in "feel" and things like suspension...but at 5.1s to 60 it's not significantly faster than the A8 with the W12 (still sub 6s to 60)....

Here in Canada you do.

EDIT: Im a tool, apparently you can get the shorty here now, just not with a W12... it only come in L form.

I stand corrected about the W12...but seriously, 7800USD for a stereo system? I mean, sure Bang & Olufsen is some sort of prestigious name, but is it really worth it? Or is it like a Gucci watch...looks nice, but Seiko is better, but the Gucci is more of a status symbol...?

not to mention that B&O stuff is bloody expensive (and the top of top quality audio)..i doubt Audi even marked that up at all! Seriously, check out their website, $400 for a cordless phone, $12,000 for a pair of their mid-level speakers lol
