I heard they were on backorder for all of Canada, which is why I was surprised they would even get one for Peter when he first called them...

Ok, so went to Glenmore Audi today to pick up the TT shifter and the part the guy ordered did not look like the one out of my car. He ordered the B version (I think its out of the TT Quattro) and the counter weight appears to be cast in the same plane as the splined flange while the one that fits the Jetta has the weight sticking up.

Anyway, I ordered the version without any suffix and I guess I gotta wait a few more days before my First mod.

I have the TT SS and I love it. you notice the differance right awayand the instal took about 3 min. It was as easy as poping the old one off and putting the new one in place,...done. but $70+ wow that's a lot for a $40 part, I know AutoBraun here in Edmonton has them in stock , I got mine from Vince for $45 give him a shout.

One guy's "easy" is another guy's nightmare... I can barely install the dead-pedal on my own

Aww crap, I already bought the part. Thanks for lead anyway. Does AutoBraun have a webpage?

Next, the install. 3 min? We shall see how smart I really am.

K, so I finally got the part today. It cost $64 plus tax. Not too shabby I suppose. $70.34 is for the Quattro version.

I just had the concept 1 shifter installed today at 40% (max) reduction. It's real nice indeed.

I paid 1/2 hour labor to have it installed. Yes, you can do it yourself, but aside from having to remove the airbox and a bunch of stuff to get at it, theres some really fragile clips that you can break. After reading the walkthru I decided 35 bucks to have it done is worth it.

OK guys, I tried putting in that damn shifter today. I read the instructions and they made perfect sense. Everything went pretty smooth up until point where I tried to pull the links off of the ball joints. Wait a minute these aren't ball joints like the picture, they are straight pins with "snap-ring" like fasteners. My setup does not look like the pics in the instructions floating around everywhere. The part that I bought looks like the pics, but will not fit in my car.

Does anyone know if there is a revision to the Audi part that will fit my car? Maybe a B, C, D, XXX? I think my car being so new, they went changed things again! Although with this new design I think I can do the swap without taking out the airbox.

Here's a quote from someone else installing the TT:

You may be right - I was thinking more along the lines of leverage, not distance. But c'mon it takes a little longer than 2 min.

No way, two minutes. I just noticed you have a 2003. So all you have to do it pop the brackets off, slide the old shifter arm off, slip the new one on and reattach the brackets. Two minutes is generous (only because you should be doing it one handed because you have a beer in your other hand. )

                        Hope that helps.

You have to tell them what year of car you needed it for...I had the same problem when I picked mine up, all I said is I needed the one for a 2001, then I got home and went to do the install I had the ball (pre-AWW) and needed the one with the pin(AWW and newer), I took it back and found out that I had an AWW 2001 (there was a mid year change) and thus Vince exchanged it for me and all was good:thumbsup:
