  • Help!

    Nevermind...took it for a good spin and hit the binders
    must have froze something ...alll better now..

    More elec problems...
    washed the car yesterday
    and the brake lights won't go off had to undo the neg on the battery last night...
    same thing this morning...
    any ideas..

    Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.

    there is a brake light switch recall that i believe effects you car (2001 for sure, 2002... i think too). could be this. i have had it happen once too.. if you drive for a long time with them stuck on, your glow plug light will come on flashing as a warning (flashing glow plug light = tail light issue).

        come to think of it, i think it happened to me after the recall work was done. but it only ever happened once. i freaked out and called vw because i was on my vacation at the time and the glow plug light started flashing way north on vancouver island. over the phone they said it was just tail lights, and the switch was likely stuck or damaged. (it was mid day in the sun, so i didnt even notice the brake lights were on until they mentioned it and I looked closely). i kicked the pedal, and it went away and never happened again. in your case though, check if that recall issue was ever fixed.
