  • looking at older mk4's...

    i found this nice older mk4 golf, and im wondering what i should look for, when driving/ looking at it...
    any tips, or things to look for????

        Check for grinding of gears in 1-2 and 2-3, check that timing belt was done, and that all oil changes have receipts or some record. Other than that I would check for the usual rattles etc and make sure suspension is ok, or if the underside is all chewed up (like mine).

          and keep in mind the older ones have 30 less hp if that's important to you.

                  ahah well you can put ASR in, its like $300 to do, not ESP though. and sorry but its all about the 2 doors + tdi

                      I have a staff seargant here where I'm working tonite who has a 2002 Jetta VR6 he may be looking to get rid of....with 36K on the clock
