Hmmm, the wifey will need a new car soon. Dsg gti would fit the bill. No launch control on the '06's?

I'll be seriously peeved if VW doesn't give Canada an R32 or R36, companies not servicing the Canadian market properly drives me absolutely nuts. No excuses.

No you can't. Vehicles have to be at least 15 years old to legally import them.

There are more people in the state of California than there are people in all of Canada! From a profit standpoint, it's not hard to see why so many companies ignore the Canadian market. Very unfortunate indeed, but just simple economics

On the way to work the other day, I saw a fleet of carrier trucks hauling the GTI's to the dealerships here in the valley

blame the stupid person in charge of transport here in canada! bumper law my ass, as if a vw made in 2005 is not 'safe', and a car from the 1980's is safer??? ya right.

I'd love to know what the actual costs to VW of getting the R cars into Canada would be. I suspect the amount is immaterial and could be tacked onto the price of the cars sold here.

I don't buy the market size arguement, I attribute it too laziness and lack of creativity.

I mean lets get serious, if VW can't offer a 4motion GTI in the Canadian market they won't be competitive by the end of the car's lifecycle. There will be an awful lot of AWD cars available by 2012 or whenever the car lasts till.

Amen to the 4mo thing. Try and tell me that a 4mo TDI is not the ideal commuter car for any canadian...can't do it, can ya?

Speaking of competitive, I just read in the paper that the Mazdaspeed 6 has a 2.3 turbo putting out 280ftlbs and 270hp stock.....looks like VW is playing catchup again....
