Do you think this would actually make any improvement to the performance of one's intercooler? or is it more of a 'coolness' mod?

I've never measured intake temp on my car while while working it, but I assumed the stock intercooler would keep up as-is (unless you have tweaked the turbo). It there a significant difference in temp between stock tdi and 1.8T intake temps? I guess i know how a turbo/intercooler works.. just not sure how they act and react to different conditions, or how good the stock setup is.

      Re: Intercooler

-ya i did that before, when logging the temp under boost, it didnt seem to go up any slower, but maybe we got to our top speed faster.

-on 'cool down' when you are decelerating it might cool it down faster a bit, not significant though.

if you want something that works i tested, a mister:

but thats on a vnt17, vnt15 wont go up that high anyway...

After Bart's test I would say that the liner-mod is not worth it. But the mister is not a bad idea.

...although, if you've got an upgraded SMIC (like the tyrolsport one) then I'd say extra ventilation holes might be worth something!!

            Re: Intercooler

On a related topic, is anybody here running a FMIC? I have seen them talked about extensively on tdiclub, but have never seen any hard data, or actually seen one installed.

Don't forget Chad (klobi-one-kinobi). But bart is the only one with an fmic on a TDI (since you mentioned TDIclub)
