I say hit it! Since its no-name and on ebay its probably a cheap import but I still think it will look awesome and if you keep em in good care, they should last.
ok thanks guys for all of your input... will go ahead after x'mas (my 90% of my disposable income is going to my other hobby---reef keeping)
what do you guys think about tires?? any specific brand or things that i have to look out for?
let me use this chance to get you all a user review on the 2.0T. Of course, since being a owner of a 1999 2.0 115hp, the change has been no less than dramatic, power/torque/interior... pretty much everything has been great!
The car is what i have expected, all grown up, sort of.
I want to comment 3 things.
1. the car is so fuel efficient, that it uses less gas than the old 2.0L and i rip the car alot harder than my old one... that is amazing considering the extra power and torque plus weight,,,!!!
2. bi-xenon is auto height adjustable. a very fun thing to have. especially with the headlight washer squeezing washer fluid all over the front end, its like having a mini fountain!!! ,,, VERY POWERFUL!! FUN
3. last point, ESP is amazing in winter, it correct understeer in slippery roads, as long as you trust the system and put stable throttle. very impressive.
so far, the car is 9.5 / 10.. the last 0.5 pt? you always want more power.... and the car is sitting far too high... even with sport suspension. but the handling is magnificient!!
ending remarks... as a day to day driver.. i am not a pro but i really appreciate the car a lot more than people just take one for the testdrive... i DID hesitate before my time of purchase but now my love to the car has grown so much... i hope you all can give this car a chance, wait and see all the mods/upgrades of this beatuiful euro mid luxury sedan.. i am confident it WILL grow on you.
since i am doing the wheels, maybe i can ask if any of you guys is interested in a groupbuy from the eurowheelsusa. i have spoken with the people down there and they seems to be nice.
For tires, I previously had BFG's and I switched to Kumho's after reading/hearing some good reviews. Although I find that the Kumho's do offer predictable handling, the grip isn't as good and they squeal. In retrospect it feels a little like I "cheaped out" on the tires and would not do so again. I recommend getting a really good tire even if it is at a bit of a premium.

Tire test is your friend. Here we have one fresh from C&D test on December. I’ll say any of the top 5 is good IMO. Now is the question to yourself is if you want to break your wallet on expensive tires on the street. Haha.
