Re: anyone chipped ever ran their car down the 1/4?
I haven't but I have seen maybe 5-6 cars try and nobody has done better than mid 15's.
I think bart did something like 17's in his TDI when it was just a chip, back when I first met him, so I am not sure that is very good for a 1.8T. Gas is supposed to be faster!
Supposedly you can get high 14's all day on summer tires with really good driving, but that may be at better elevations and on a better track too. So I do not think 15's are too far off.
Re: anyone chipped ever ran their car down the 1/4?
Totally depends on the track and elevation. The VT or whatever it's called they spray on the deck at race city helps slicks but is really slippery for streets. Same driver at Edmonton can chop over 1/2 second.
Re: anyone chipped ever ran their car down the 1/4?
I agree edmonton is maybe 1/2 second difference from talking to many fast cars. That stuff they spray you don't ever want to get on your tires, drive around it and ask them not to spray it if you can! As you said, slicks only! Same with doing a burn out, you don't need to warm up your tires, that is for racing tires, keep your street tires cold and dry.

no the reason you drive around their water/spray is because street tires have tread and when you drive through it water gets stuck in the tread and then when you stop for 20 seconds at the line, you'll be sitting in a pile of your own water/spray. where as race tires with no tread just burn the water off.
