  • Optima vs Other Batteries

Well, its clear that VW installed one of those non-cold weather batteries in my car. Either that or the car sitting on the lot for over a year before it was purchased. Or maybe its the predominantly short trips.

Either way the battery has no kick in the cold. The question; is the Optima battery worth it or is it bling? And is it good in the cold?

Not really worth it, for the same price you can get a battery with a higher cold cranking rating. I always go to batteries plus (I think that is the name) they are on 51st street NE.

I can't complain with mine, I got it more so I could put it in the trunk though, and it works fine in the cold.
      Got it at cosco.

Get a Kirkland at Cosco. Best CCA's for the $, and they're warrenty is phenominal.

I think its something like 3 yr's 100% return no questions asked, then another 7yrs of pro-rated warrenty.

Does it move around much with those straps? I still think you should vent it but as it is a seal battery you should be ok. I personally like canadian energy batteries as all their dealers seem to treat you great and they are pretty cheap.

Doesn't move around at all, I have 4 bolts that come up through the tray of the the battery that the straps hide. And thats the reason I got it, was so I didn't have to vent it.
