  • Poll For Anyone Previously Running "Sport Package" Suspension

For all of those out there that have removed their "sport package" suspension from their Jetta in favour of a lower aftermarket (like, say, 2" lower) suspension, what is your impression on the difference?

    a. Much stiffer, handles worse, and I hate it.

    b. Stiffer, handles waaay better, and I LOVE it.

    c. About the same stiffness, better handling, I'm satisfied.

    d. Too stiff (feels like it has wooden tires), but handles better, I'm neutral.

    e. I just plain wish I had kept my sport suspension; I'm considering putting it back on.

    f. About the same stiffness, same-better handling; it's just lower.

Basically any aftermarket suspension will be stiffer, as that just comes with the territory. It all depends on what you go with as your aftermarket option. I went with H&R coils, and IMHO they are too stiff for everyday driving. In retrospect I would have gone with an H&R cupkit.
Sidewalks are for normal walkin.... aint no room for fancy walkin....

Werd. I have the FK coils, and while I am okay with the ride quality (it is wayyyyyyy stiffer, but I don't mind), the coils siezed a long time ago so the adjustability is no longer there. If I had it to do over again i would go with an HR cup kit, or just a nice Bilstien/HR combo.

You don't have a "wish I was even lower" option.......I'm happy with the ride of the FK 55 kit, its a little softer than most, but its not low enough!

my 2" drop on 18s.. ehh 2.25" would look awesome
my 2" drop on 17s.. perfect.. i scrape so bad right now so thats a sign its low enough haha

Ironically, my car sits quite a bit higher on my 15" steelies. With respect to the original poster, I'm on the FK 35/40 kit in my VR6 and think the ride is definitely stiffer. I'm not sure how much of the harshness is from my 18" rims, but it rides a lot softer with the winter tires on there. As far as handling, it's night and day. I doubt I would change a thing, except maybe different dampers that are a little less harsh on square edged bumps. On smooth pavement it's phenomenal.

i'm really really wanting to get those new koni shocks but i guess you need to use stock springs with them or something like that i suppose you could use the konis and GLI springs but i'm thinking you could get away with race springs but i have no idea.. nobody on vortex has them on yet..
