1.8t motor rebuilt

I got my 1.8T motor back from D & W Custom Engines (thumbs down). The guy there that IS good IMO is Adam but Rod (owner) doesn't know much about newer engines and should perhaps do some research before diving into the project I gave him. Anyways, their defecencies are for another thread altogether. I got my motor back and now get the joy of putting it all back together and droping it into the car. This motor is freaking sweet now. I gained around 50cc I believe!!!! haha

If anyone wants any specific pictures of anything on or in the engine let me know and I'll get them because this oportunity doesn't come around often to poke around a new open engine.

Yeah, probably go for more power (gonna keep the car). My business is doing really well so I don't really need the money.

I have been wondering about the TDI 5th gear conversion. Anyone here done it?

Also, does anyone in the club have an engine picker/lift (looks like a minature crane) I could borrow sometime in the next couple weeks for a day or two?

you can get .681 gears off a transporter, which are 11% longer then the 5th on a stock tdi golf (.754 i believe), so probably big diff on a 1.8t



there is a GB on vortex and tdi for them, they are about $250ish...

Im running a TDI gear box in my car with Quaife and it works nice, I do really miss the stock gearing, I would sell my built tranny for the right price. 110mph in 3rd gear and 150mph in 4th.
