Hey guys i got a question about the engine temp needle. When its fully warmed up, shouldnt't the temp needle stay at the middle? on my pearnts 99 caravan the needle stays well below the middle (a quarter above the bottom cold mark)....i called dodge to book an appointment, they say thiere all booked untill next thursday

does anyone know what the prob could be?
    thanks

there's usually a temp mark or the domestics like using "norm" to mark where it should be.

Back in the olden days we used to change our thermostats in the spring and fall but I am sure that the ECU chips now compensate for the engine temp, it is better to be a little cool than to warm. As long as the heater is blowing warm air you should be ok.

                  Re: engine temp

I had this problem on my old Mazda B4000 too actually........replaced the thermostat and all was fine. It was a relatively cheap fix, and it was more or less for peace of mind. Everything worked fine before I fixed it like you guys have already said. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to fix it as if there ever is an over heating problem, you would never know with a misreading needle.
                  Cheers,
                  Ryan

                    Re: engine temp

As long as there is heat from the vents and the needle is around the same place in the summer as it is now in the winter it should be fine.
