Re: Buy a Jetta 2.5 or Civic LX? Please help...
Remember, when VW says they upgraded the suspension, they basically mean they upgraded it to a system more like what Honda has been using for years, but which was lacking on the Mk4.
I don't know if the stock suspension on the Mk5 is going to impress me if I compare it to other oem suspensions even now. Nonetheless it is at least competitive now instead of dismal.
I know the 2.0T Jetta would destroy a civic in terms of performance, but maybe not the 2.5L.
As for safety, fit, finish, and road feel, I agree VW usually exceeds most other brands in these areas. It is not really a test you can probably do, but at 200km/h the Jetta is going to feel stable while I don't know if you can say the same for other cars in its class.
Also, if it matters to you, other people - buiness associates for example - would probably be more impressed/comfortable in a VW. Not sure who will be passengering in the vehicle.
Edit: Overnight test drive, how can you turn that down? Go call Adam and drive one overnight, then you'll know!
