    Re: TDi general questions

    Where do they put them?
I had one technician try to tell me that they are under the rear seats... yeah right. Nothing there guy.
Another told me they were under the front seats, but I don't see them down there, and there's already a lot of crap under there.
I'll try that on mine today, and see if I can find them.

only looked at passenger side, its along the front seat's inside rail. quite close to the front, but if you push the seat forward you should see it. its about 3"x1/2" opening.

Cool, I thought they might be there, but I never put the seat all the way forward to check. There is usually a passenger in it
Thanks, I'll take a peek tomorrow.

On the sway bar issue, you cannot compare Mk4 with Mk5. Mk4s actually do have factory rear sway bars in a manner, the twist beam acts as one, as does the bar that goes through the middle of the twist beam. Mk5s have independant rear suspension and would have the more conventional sway bar setup.

?? The guy who started this thread said:
I've got the itch for a Jetta Wagon TDi, will be an 05 or 06, and I have a few questions before I make the jump. First, general info:
So I ASSUME, we should be talking about the MK5 Jetta wagon, no??

Well there is no MK5 Jetta wagon at this point in time so I who knows what he will be getting.

                    Re: TDi general questions

Shows how up do date I am!!! Shows my level of interest in the Wagon.

OK, then as stated the Mark 4 rear suspension is not independent. The big swing arm is a large anti-sway bar.

                    See here
Rear Suspension: Independent torsion beam axle, coil springs, telescopic gas pressurized shock absorbers, 18 mm stabilizer bar
Not quite sure how a torsion beam axle can be indepepndent, but lies get you everywhere these days. According to that there is ALSO an 18mm anti-sway bar.
