  • woohoo subs finally installed.

over the last 2 days I installed my 2 10s into my car.. took freaking forever.. i had to rip the entire interior apart again.. no panels anywhere up front.. no centre console no seats at all.. but i have my power and rcas all ran now.. i'll have to take it apart again this winter as I want to fix/replace a few things.. and give my carpets a good vacuuming..

not to mention i broke a bunch of stuff LOL.. i need to replace the entire centre console where the shifter is i broke the plastic tabs that attach it to the other one.. plus i want to replace my mid centre console w/ebrake to the newer style with the cupholder and toss my armrest in the trash since i hate it..

i bought a JL amp install kit w/ 2ga wire(big ass shiz!!).. i had to remove my boost guage tubing and fog light wiring to get it to fit through the firewall so next week here comes the drill! for now i just shoved a screwdriver bit into my boost tubing so it won't leak.
for my RCAs i bought stinger ones.. and some stinger speaker wire for now for the subs..

anyways lol.. onto the subs.. i have them in a generic (bassworx) dual 10" box right now that oddly worked out for the proper CUFt range my subs need.. tweaked my amp a bit and oh man.. it sounds awesome! i have to really go buy my component speakers and add that amp in over the winter..

i won't post pics cuz right now it looks so ghetto its not funny LOL..

but at least i can get some rumble rumble for the next 1-2 weeks until i park my car

I installed Alpine Type R 6.5" components. I think it looks pretty stock. The cross-overs just fit inside the doors. The woofers fit in the stock location fine, but they needed to be shimmed out about 1/2" to clear the power window track.

The front tweeters are mounted on the mesh cover for the original tweeter. I had to cut a hole in the mesh for this. The rear tweeters are mounted in front of the stock location. A small slot was needed to allow the wires to pass, but otherwise fit was bang on.

Nice Ryan. Once it's all setup and finished it'll look great.

IMO.... after seeing my bro do his trunk, I would sink the amp into the spare wheel well. Add some plexiglass and some carbon fiber, and it'll look hot.

I would have had to cut the grille off the tweeter which I wan't willing to do. It appeared to be all glued together, and I wasn't able to twist it off.

Nice! I would love to give it a listen Ryan!

On a related note, I figured out how to route wires into the cabin from the engine bay on the passenger side this weekend. This might be useful for those who want to run power for subs and such in the future. It was pretty easy and looks more stealth than running them through the very obvious hole in the firewall that is just behind the engine on the driver's side.

I ran about 5 wires into the glove box with no difficulty.

                          Re: woohoo subs finally installed.

You can always use the main wiring harness hole as well. The little plastic channel under the air cleaner pops off, and there should be room to run at least a few wires through there. I have power for my amp, Hella fog wiring harness, and the control wire for the headlight levelling motors all run through there. I haven't used either of the other two firewall holes (yet).
