Re: TDI Block Heater/Fifth Ave Auto Haus experience

I'm not impressed with 5th Ave service either.

My last visit to 5th was for a broken wire in the AC system (clearly visible).
The service advisor @ 5th refused to look at the car, so that they knew what the problem was, but instead wanted to book an appointent to look at the broken wire...

NL's service advisor went out to look at the broken wire, called a tech out to reccomend a possible solution and then booked an appointment.

The previous experience with 5th Ave was for a blown speaker, they booked the car in, kept it for the full day then said they only wanted to check what model the speaker was in the car and yes that the speaker was blown.
I guess most of 5th Ave's service customers are on crack and imagine that their cars are failing - so they always need to verify that there is a problem on the first visit.

NL gives a better perception of caring. try them next time.
    put.......put.......

    .... ... .. .

Well in defence of dealerships some techs are good and some are bad I know cause I work at a dealer (class 8 trucks) and some of the guys are about as smart as a tractor
But I know that when a customer is buying a truck they almost always ask the salesman about the service department cuse thats who they are going to deal with the most.
I myself am not happy with the service at VW but it is not the Techs fault usually
      just my 2 cents

since everyones talking about dealerships, have any of u guys visited eastside dodge chrysler jeep in marlbrough? the service advisors r so rude there. last time i took my jeep there they ruined the whole interior left dirty hand marks all over my driver, passenger doors and on my dashboard. seems strange to me as to why someone would b in the passenger side..i rote to chrysler canada and heard nothing back.

i even saw one of the younger guys do a lil burn out with a customers durango there while taking it out of the drive through service and into the gargage

I will say that complaining to VW Canada has worked for me. They called for a survey after one "bad" visit. I complained to them. Within an hour the dealer phoned up and was grovelling left, right and center to make it right.

Well, if VWOA (or is it VWOC?...) calls me up they will get a piece of my mind about their service department. I don't care if 1 fail fucks the service department up, I'm pretty bitter about it all.

your not kidding you are bitter, anyhow if you don't have the services done their they will probably give you miserable service by the sounds of it..they
always look at history and see how much money you spend at the dealership.
and then decide whether you get a loaner or not even when your vehicle is
under warranty..that's why i switched to s.c.f.c..the manager's only words of
advice to me were if you do anything out of the guidelines of warranty to your
vehicle don't expect consequential damage to be covered, and to use the factory
oil filter because it has a check valve in it to prevent losing oil pressure to the
head during start up.majority of aluminum heads fail, especially on 1.8L turbos because of aftermarket oil filters..
KEEP ALL reciepts of oil and filters with dates when you serviced your vehicle.

                  ^^^
Oh, I'm sorry, I only spent $31k on the car, forgive me for not spending $100 on oil changes there too...

If I don't have the services done they will give me miserable service. Well, my car has 4350km on it as of this morning. There has been no service to do.

Fifth ave doesn't do loaner cars. That's what every single person has told me. They offer to rent you a car for $30/day, which I suppose isn't that bad of a solution, but when my friends take their $14k cavalier in to the dealership, they get a loaner car.
