Hey guys, I've been reading the site for a while, but I just signed up now.
I don't have a dub yet, but in about 2.5 weeks time I should have a 99 GTI vr6. 87000kms, I'm paying around 12k for it. What do you guys think about that? I think it's a pretty good deal. Oh and it's a mk3.

Once I get it I hope to join the club and come out to some meets and whatnot, seems like a good group to hang out with.
I'd like to make a statment!

    Re: Newbie

Here's a quick question. The car I'm buying is in Edmonton, but he's coming down to Calgary this weekend. Does anyone have any idea of what would be the best way to check out this car and ensure it's in good shape? My other option is to wait 2 weeks and get a friend from Edmonton to go check it out, he's a retired mechanic and a very smart person....

I would not buy the car without first getting it officially inspected by a mechanic that you trust.... not just looked at, but thrown up on the hoist and thoroughly inspected.

My friend's dad works in a frame shop, he's got a hoist. I'm not sure if he's just a frame guy or if he would be able to do a thorough inspection... I'll have to ask him.

I would say in the 20s would be about right, but not really sure.

But as far as the GTGs go, who shows up? I would feel out of place with a bunch of older fellas. :P

No offence Ryan, but dont you remember in highschool when some of the girls were dating the 20-something year old guys at 18? Ya..I thought they were creepy also
