Probably true since we probably use 10's of thousands of gallon more a month than other provinces...
With all the oil production up here of late the oil companies are burning through diesel like water. Some of the higher capacity N2 pumpers out there used for oil well fracing and such will burn over 500 gal of diesel per hour. Don't worry. It will get used up fast...
