    OUCH!
As long as you got the car turned off while there was oil in it, you should be fine. I think MK4 oilpans are about $400.

If the damage is terminal. You can go through insurance. I've seen it a hundred times. Don't worry. Unless you don't have collision coverage.

That sucks. Yea, hopefully its just your oilpan. Dont want to go through insurance unless you have to, especially if your an under 25 male.

Should be easy to see what is wrong on inspection. If the oil pan is dead, just get a new one, maybe install a skid-plate too.

My dumbass ex did something similar with my 1.8t Passat and it ended up costing me just under $700.

We have a Golf in our shop that smoked a rock on the undercarriage. They had a metal skid plate and it took out the oilpan, trans housing, subframe, rim, control arm and fuel lines. Popped the passenger side airbags too. Would have been a write off if they didn't have the skid plate me thinks.

regardless if you had to go through insurance, it should be no fault...its not like you hit something off road, or another object or car....the tracks aren't your fault...I had a no fault claim from hitting a hideabed on the highway once...
