I have a 02 GTI 1.8T, and would absolutely love to get a new spiffy 6spd tranny in my little german booger mobile (it's that sexy pearl green). Would it be possible to put in the stock 6spd R32 tranny...and if so, where could I find a good deal on one?

Its not a nice swap. You need to change out a lot of stuff in addition to the transmission (with all cables etc) and clutch/flywheel, including (I believe) your axels and starter.

AFAIK there are also not really any good deals to be had on complete transmission replacements :(

Might want to pass on this one.

If you are going to do it, I think VR6 axels are compatible with the O2M but do not quote me since I am just vaguely remembering reading that, or maybe it was Dom who told me?

There are 6-speeds but nonetheless they use all those different parts.

I think you need to do something about the ECU, too. I would imagine that it would have to be able to recognize the extra cog in the transmission!

            You can just re-code it.
