  • Spotted Red Jetta Macleod Trail

I was coming back from a clients and I spotted a red Mk4 Jetta with black wheels that had red anodized lips on Macleod Trail going North near Avenida around 1:00pm. The wheel gap was not huge so I think it was lowered but not 100% sure. Just seeing if anyone has seen this ride before?

They looked a tad pinkish compared with the cars red paint.

Re: Spotted Red Jetta Macleod Trail

                        Thanks for the linky.

I am not defending these guys, since it looks like a cut and dried case of a couple beyonders who were racing dangerously and smashed into your everyday deerfoot commuters.

However, the wording of that press release is kinda iffy, and gets me a little bit defensive. I do not like it when the terms "street racing" or "street racers" are broadly used since they are very much sensationalist media labels. I do think that we need to keep the streets safe and drive carefully, but when accidents happen, I do not think that using these labels helps anyone.

Also words like "...estimated..." and "...up to 150km/h..." could indicate that they weren't really going too fast... lets face it, people are doing 130-140 on the deerfoot right now and its not street racing. There are also a lot of accidents on deerfoot, and a lot of speeding-related accidents on deerfoot. All the time. There are also a lot of assh*le drivers on deerfoot who weave and change lanes eratically. I hope that in other cases, an accident is not branded as "street-racing" both publicly and legally just because the cars involved were modded or imports.

On the way home from school yesterday, my buddy and I went to Vision's and other electronic stores looking at car alarms and driving back onto Macleod was a joke. These 2 cars, one being a Mustang and I couldn't recall the other one were speeding in rush hour weaving in and out of lanes.

Apparently the police have not stopped to watch the cabbies and the delivery van drivers on deerfoot. Those asshats weave and jog about way more dangerously than most street racers.

I would rather see powerful cars with powerful brakes and suspension hauling ass in and out of traffic than those land barges driven by the demographic that tends to drive those vehicles.
