Incredibly Stupid Question

So I recently fixed my cigarette lighter/12v outlet (reattached a wire and replaced a fuse) so I can dock my iPod+iTrip to the flexdock I have...my question is will the dock drain the same amount of power from my battery with the ipod plugged in as when it's not?

The reason I ask is because I am paranoid about a dead battery, but am equally paranoid about wearing out the 12v outlet constantly plugging and unplugging said flexdock....

My guess is little current draw when ipod not docked and still a minimal amount when docked. If you battery is good and you are not leaving your car for weeks at a time you should be ok. It you are really worried stick a multimeter with a current meter inline and measure it.

Having the lighter plugged in shouldnt draw any power at all, unless theres like a status indicator light in there, or if the itrip is somehow tied into the dock. But if the itrip is anything like mine it wont be. to have current flowing in a circuit at all you need to have it closed. and unless the ipod is sitting in it, their wont be a complete circuit. Hope this helps
