I jsut paid 103.9 while gas is at 87.4 WTF! How come when gas even goes up a cent there is screaming in the streets but for the first time I have ever seen diesel is way more expensive then gas and nothing is being done. Really high diesel prices hurt out economy way more then gas prices.

          Look here before filling up

There is a huge spread in prices across the city at the moment.

Hahaha, that is one crazy picture!!...
I just have one more stupid question, is that in front of, or behind the flap in the filler neck. If it's infront of it, how can I see the fuel level, and if it's behind it, won't the nozzle be in the way?...

I don't exactly like smelling like diesel for a whole day if I get it all over me, but I've got to fill up tomorrow, then I'll top up for my road trip on saturday and vent it

The button is held open by the fuel cap when it gets screwed on. Take the cap off, you can not miss it.

Haha, now I see it. I thought that might be it, but I wasn't sure until now. So, how do you guys tell how full the tank is when you're doing this?... I just don't want to smell like diesel for my road trip
I've never tried this, so I don't know if you can just hear how full it is, or if there is some easier way to tell.

Okay, so I presume that the fuel will drain through the vent into the tank, so it's not going to fill as quickly as if I put the nozzle right in the tank. I guess this means don't squeeze the pump all the way. You say I will see it, I believe you
I guess it will just start draining slower, or bubbles will come out or something, so I'm going to give it a shot saturday night.

No the fuel goes into teh vent line from within the tank. Openning the valve lets the air out of the vent line so that the fuel can get in from below. You will hear air escaping the vent line when it is filling. You need to fill a little slower at that point.

I think I misunderstood, I thought you pulled the nozzle back out, and used the end of it to depress the vent switch, now I think you pull it half-way out so it's still in past the flap, and use the side of the nozzle to push the vent switch. I am going to try this soon

haha dood, I know you know a **** load about cars...and you're worried about venting it hahaha. No you're not using the side of te nozzle, use the circular opening to clip onto it and push like it shown in the pic. lol

                            Re: Diesel more than gas??

Just came back from a trip to Vegas with our TDI. Got around 950 km (light just came on) to a tank from Salt Lake to Vegas and this included around 200 km of driving in Vegas. This was at 130 km/h on the interstate with the back (Wagon) full of luggage and four people. I used some Prestone Diesel additive from Canadian Tire for this fill. Don't know if it really made a difference though.

Diesel range from around $3.40/gal (Montana) to $2.99/gal (LV). There was also one station in Salt Lake that had Low Sulpher Diesel.

From what I have seen Diesel has always been more expensive in the US. We were the only exception. Apparently from what I've been hearing, that in the east some houses have diesel fired heaters???? Don't know if this is true?

well my folks in poland have a big diesel powered heater in their house, but they got this like 10 years ago, thats what remote farms use where there is no ground gas lines... the other way is to do it the old fashioned way, chop some wood we do that too ahah.

Man, you guys are way too young. Prior to the mid 1970s, almost everyone had diesel (heating oil) furnaces. It is still common in some locations.
