yea.. its a button or something in the gascap area that vents pressure out so you can squeeze more in..
never overfill your 1.8t or vr6 tho.. i did when i first got my car and when i got home i heard a hissing sound from the gas cap and the cap has a very small hole to vent pressure and the gas pressured in the tank and since i over filled it it was leaking into the cap then out the safety drain hose onto the ground!! dumped like 1L of gas onto the ground.. pretty funny haha

Yea, filling it right to the top is kind of a waste in the summer. Cold fuel from the ground into your hot car just makes it evaporate if there is not enough room for it to expand (or in your case, expands onto your paint )
I am wondering if somebody could explain the right way to vent to me...
I know there is some kind of button inside of the filler neck on the left side that you press with the nozzle... but I just don't quite get it, and I don't want to look like an idiot holding up the line at the gas station trying to figure out how to do it...
I'm planning a big road trip soon, and I want to be able to brag about making 1000km+ per tank

Thats basically it. Push in the button (as in push down the filler neck) and keep fueling (at a slower rate of course)
Push down the button, what button??
I don't even know how to find this button.
Is it under the flap in the filler neck? If so, how can I possibly see my fuel level, and not over-flow it?...
I hate to sound like an idiot here, but I would rather sound like one than look like one
hey playa,
I'll draw some shiz in paint for you so you know how to do it haha. Gimme a couple mins.
There you go.
Using the round opening of your nozzle, kind of clip the round opening of it on to the button and push forward/downwards into the opening of the tube. Keep on filling and just watch the fuel rise. Once you see it coming up then stop!
