That is a horrible excuse, what do most big digs run on? The price of shipping is going to go through the roof so then everything we buy will go up in price.

Soon it will be cheaper to drive a 1.8T instead of the 1.9L TDI in a golf. In fact, at all of the gas stations around me, gas is down to 90c/L, while diesel is at $1.05!!
Somebody told me that it is because bush ordered the refineries in the southern states to produce a much higher amount of gas, and less of diesel, in order to keep everybody in america happy while refinery output was lowered as a result of the hurricanes. I sure hope this isn't the case.

Yeah, you did get owned sorta... Just wait a while, wasn't diesel 30cents/L cheaper than gas when gas was at 114?

Prices will go down......I hope. Glad I don't drive much

Yep, it was. I remember watching the signs, because it was all perfect for my argument, then stupid diesel skyrocketed. My dad is a trucker, he works for a pretty large company who is severely hurting over the price hike. They are feeling it too, and no matter how bad we think we have it paying $4 or $5 more per tank, they are sometimes paying $100 more per tank, yeouch!

I can't wait for it to come back town.

                  Re: Diesel more than gas??

Mainly Deerfoot driving, so anywhere from a dead stop to 120K. I typically drive about 80K a day, 35K each way to work.

A recent trip to BC got just under 1200Km to one tank.

                          Re: Diesel more than gas??

I get 650km to the tank, no venting, I stop filling at the first click, 100% city, very rarely even touch deerfoot, and I really like my right foot. I was previously depressed about my mileage, but then I looked it up...
EPA 7.1L/100km, mine - 7.7L/100km, but that's heavy right foot, occasional A/C, and winter diesel... doing okay I think

Anyhoo, I just filled up today for $1.099, like a stupid sucker. :(
I get home, check calgarygasprices.com and find I could have gone to crowfoot (just as far) and saved $0.175/L. I'm not happy.

7.7 l/100km, eek. I assume it is a PD, then?

                              I normally get 6 l/100km city 4.5 l/100km highway with a best of 4.0.

Yep, it's a PD, and an autotragic.

As a whole, the PD gets very similar mileage to non-PD engines tuned to make the same power levels. I'm making a trip to red deer and back in the next couple of weeks, we'll see how it does mileage-wise on that trip, I'm expecting ~4.5L/100km on the trip.

I just checked my spreadsheet, lifetime average (yeah right, lifetime?... more like 2600km average) of 7.8L/100km.

I'm hoping after the first oil change (and a swap to 506.01 oil, maybe ELF?...) the mileage will start to improve as it breaks in. I know you won't see really great mileage until 10k or 20k on the clock, but I still think I'm doing pretty darn good considering my driving habits.
