Need to know about the VW 1989 1.8 V6

I am looking at this 1989 Scirocco for sale, and i have no clue what kind of engine it has. the guy says it has this goofy 1.8L V6 in it, and if someone could tell me the spec, the make, and if they are full of crap or not that woyuld be great.

It does not have a V6 in it, but it just might have a 1.8 G60. Basically it is a supercharged 1.8l 4 cyl.

There are some people on here who can tell you what to watch out for with those engines as they have some issues.

G60 never came in a scirocco, so if that is the engine in there the guy put it in himself. sciroccos came with either a 1.8l 8v or a 1.8l 16v (both 4 cylinders)

EDIT: Chances are if he made a point of mentioning the engine as "goofy" it is a 16v

Also 16v might become 6v which might become v6 in a string of typographical errors.

Yeah I am with everyone else here, on that its a 4cyl. I don't know much about the Scirroco's, but from what I remember reading, the vr6 motor, wasn't introduced until something like 1995, so I highly doubt that an 89 has it, unless there was an engine swap. Good luck with it.

The only 1.8 V6's were in the Mazda MX-3 1992-1996. I hope someone wouldn't spend the time to put one of those in a VW!!

VROOM6, I would say get some more details on it and post it back up, if for some crazy reason it IS a Precidia motor in there I would probably stay away from it.

I drove a V6 MX-3 for a while, it was pretty zippy, I liked it.

my mazda precidia mx-3 has a 1.8 V6.. and its pritty dam fast.. and good on gas
