  • Looks like I will be needing a new clutch...

lately I have been watching my revs go high with hardly any acceleration. Well today was the pinnacle when I would floor it and watch my km/h stay close to the same till the clutch would finally grab. I gotta start saving for that now, forget the bilsteins till another time I guess. It is pretty starange because this started happening right after my boost gauge/exhaust was put on :(

How many KM you have driven?

I just reached 50,000 km so I guess clutch wear is to be expected, I just hoped it would last a bit longer than that :(

The 42nd drraft gauge looks really hot! I am happy with the OEM look..very nice product! The LED is a bit dim for my tastes but otherwise..top notch

I really love the brullen exhaust, gains are minimal due to the fact I am only running 8psi but the sound and look is more than worth it! Top quality product!

50,000 km +/- seems too early to me. Clutch slips occur once a while is normal. Change the clutch if it occurs more often. I wonder does it apply to the MK4 but do you feel the paddle with high engagement point on fly wheel/clutch?

I agree that 50,000 seems somewhat early as well.

I talked to Ken at C1 and he said that this is relatively common and he stocks VR6 clutches and lightened flywheels because there are lots of people needing this done. He said his setup will be much better and cheaper than the $1500+ Oem replacement. I will have to wait a month or two till I can afford this so I am driving my old car for a while.

On the bright side Ken said the lightened flywheel + VR6 clutch may be good for an extra 10 hp..sounds good. This clutch issue now brings my MKIV out of warranty repairs to $2600 VW rocks :yahsure:
