  • oil pan, wear and tear?

so apparently the threads for your bolt in your oil pans, are wear and tear. mine is leaking. vw doesnt seem to want to replace it, even though its their design, and their mechanics doing the wear and tear! gay

If it's leaking that means it's stripped IMO. I just finished paying for a new one on my bike. You can retap the hole for less than a whole new pan if they are really being asses about it.

that sucks... you can usually get oversized oil plugs. they are not a full bolt size bigger, and they are self tapping. I have used them on fords and chevs.. it is concievable that metric ones exist as well.

Then someone tightened the bolt too much, or didn't use the washer. There's no way that's wear and tear. That's how I did mine (torque wrench not working).

How many times have you changed oil?

Or, if you are claustrophobic like me, a nice PELA oil extractor once you get the plug leak issues resolved will mean you never have to remove the bloody thing again....

Yes it does remove most of the oil. And by most I mean there's like a tablespoon or two of old oil left (tested on both my car and my friend's 1997 Integra Type R).

If the dealership always changed your oil, I'd fight to the teeth to have them fix it. A metal screw doesn't wear out unless someone puts it in wrong.
