  • Fuse?

So I’m in the middle of relocating my battery to my trunk and I was wondering if I should have a fuse anywhere in the cable running from the battery in the trunk to the starter?

If so, how big of a fuse?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Fuse?

i know with car stereos, if you have a second battery, or a capacitor in the trunk, they recommend putting a fuse near the battery so that if the cable wears and you get a short (since it will be a long cable) it wont start a fire. The cable likely wont wear if you do a good job, but I met a stereo installer who had a freind who was sideswiped, and the cap discharged somewhere along the length of the car and lit it on fire.

That said, since you are relocating the battery, not adding a second, i dont think i would worry about it.. starters can draw 200amps+, more in the winter, thats a mighty fuse.

*might I add - wait for more opinions on this one
