ECS dog bone bushing install/review...

I was going to do this tommorow but had no plans tonight and got bored so before garden state came on i installed my dogbone/tranny bushings from ecstuning.

install was suuuuppper easy.. which is good for me since i suck at most car stuff hahaha..

anyways.. jack car up on each side.. put on sides.. grab big slice of cardboard to keep my 1/2 clean and get under car..

remove old dog bone piece.. once off car i cleaned it up a bit then installed my new bushings.. i only installed the 2 big ones and left off the little cylinder one as i hear its bad to install all 3... i also received new bolts with my bushings so i installed the new bolts and torqued it all back together


impressions.

vibration at idle is definetely noticable.. i'll have to get used to this a bit.. i may use my vagcom and bump my idle up a 100rpm to see if it helps

but once the RPMs increase the car is 200x better!! shifting the car is solid as hell now.. and downshifting is wayyy better.. i didn't get a good chance to test out if it decreases wheel hop but i'll try tommorow if there is no traffic around my area.. other than that for the whopping 30US i spent on them i'm very happy..

I still get some wheelhop with my Bonrath bushings, but yeah, its definetly different....I don't like it, and am still considering doing more "heat shield" modification to prevent rubbing and put my softies in again....I miss the smoothness....

I've got the prothane bushings. Along with h&r sports and koni yellows I get no wheel hop at all. I found the bushings will soften up a bit the longer you have them (either that or you get used to a bit of vibration), but they are hard as a rock in the winter time when the temps drop. If you have access to vag-com you can bump up the idle by 50 or 100 rpm and that will help as well (just reread and saw you have vag).

I've had mine for well over a year, and no softening...and I drive lots...

I think someone on vortex suggested taking one of the two dogbone bushings out and replacing with stock so you would have 1 rubber and 1 poly bushing in there.

Yes, another option I was considering.....just can't decide which to take out, if you take the front one out, you get minimal vibration reduction as its not really a load bushing, you take the rear one out, and you essentially lose the advantage of a poly bushing.....again, I may just do some extra modification to the heat shield over the steering rack, I had put my poly bushing in due to the rubbing of the 2.5" DP....

Just wait until winter...the vibrations get a million times worse! I eventually swapped back to my stock ones, and it's like being in a limo again sure the wheelhop is back, but it's the softest ride eva!
