meh. I won't vote mk5 until at least another year or two, once they've gotten all the bugs out of it (including the 2.0T!)

They've been in Europe for several years, won car of the year, blah blah I expect the bugs are out and wouldn't have a problem buying the GTI when it arrives.

I would buy a mkV, but I wouldn't trade my mk4 + cash. With new susp and chip a mk4 is pretty much a stock mk5 performance wise.

This has been a hotly debated subject within Volkswagen of America because of personal and professional experience. Being a true Brit, one of my first cars was a GTI and I’m a bit of a purist and only liked a 3-door. However, when I was on a test drive from Wolfsburg to the Paris Auto Show last year with some U.S. journalists, we all had the pleasure of driving a European spec 5-door GTI. All of us were so impressed about the sporty lines, particularly the rear door shut line, that we came to the conclusion that the car should come to North America.

Now we are still planning to launch the car in 3-door version, but there will be coming to these shores a 5-door. At the moment, can’t tell you when but it is part of our planning, and I think adds to what is still the original GTI. For me, the GTI is the real icon of the VW brand because, after all, VW has always been and always will be about affordable German engineering that’s fun and exciting to drive with distinctive styling.

Because remember, on the road of life, there are passengers and there are drivers, Drivers Wanted.

              Best regards,

It'll be here... my guess is it will come a year after the 3-door.

I am hoping that we see the MKV GTI in 5 doors, but I dont want to get too excited. VW as a company is the car version of a c0ck tease. They roll out all these nice cars with all these cool features, and then either we never see them or they dont make it into production. I personally am getting tired of it.

On another note, I would have to say Passat B6 over the Jetta MKIV or V. I saw one on Deerfoot south last week & it looks great.

Werd to the B6. I was sitting in the one in the NL showroom the otherday... so nice. I think the seats could be a little beefier, but other than that they are pimp.

                        MK5 For Sure

I have been driving every car the brand has to offer every day for the last two years. The MK5 is by far the best VW to hit the road, Same goes for the B6 Passat. I would welcome all New Vee Dub Members to come test the new passat or a new jetta so that you can appreciate where the brand is heading.

Thanks, it came to 1.5" in the back and 1.3" in the front. This car is so much more fun to drive, i hope to have the diesel power mod on before the end of the month, they say i can get between 30 - 50 % more HP and a similar torque increase.
