  • Mileage Question

Just a useless question since I have nothing better to do....other than work of course

What is the most mileage you have gotten out of your 1.8T? I know the Diesel-heads are going to chime in too, so what the hell. What is everyone's best milage in their ride.

The reason I ask this question is because I am quickly closing in on a record in my car. With gas prices as high as they are, I figured I'd finally try and get as much as I could out of a tank. Right now I am sitting at 598km's, and the display is still telling me that I have 110 left ! I don't really believe it, but even if I get 50 more, it'll be the most I have every gotten.

    Re: Mileage Question

See thread a few posts down. He got 850 and still had a 5th tank left. My trip to Fernie would have pushed 750 if I'd gone to the buzzer. But in the city, it's about 450-575 before hitting the red.

        Re: Mileage Question

I think my record with the 1.9 TDI was aroun 785...
I seem to hit around 600-700 consistently. I must either drive like an ass or do a lot of stop/go city driving...

Well I drive fairly aggressivly (ok I have a lead foot) in my 04 TDI, and I usually see around 675 - 700 in the city. Granted thats a chipped Automatic too.

            Re: Mileage Question

600-700 for a TDI (with a heavy foot mind you) seems to me the average in city mileage for most around here.

              Re: Mileage Question

I get 850-900 Km's with the summer wheels and about 950 Km with the winters. I have had up to 1100K with the super fill on the highway.

In the black pimp whip: 1169kms on 19's with a FULLY loaded car for half of it.
In dads Jetta TDI: 1247 and the fuel light had not even come on yet, again with a FULLY loaded car for half of it.

Both cars average ~800ish in city.

My tops is 500kms on a tank but that only takes me 19L to fill it back up

chipped 1.8T -- 9-ishL/100km. The best I've gotten (a couple times now) on the highway, with A/C on, is 7.14L/100km.

Nothing wrong, what he didn't post was that was on a vented tank so add almost 15L to your tank.

                            Re: Mileage Question

I get a little over 400km to a tank city, and a little over 500km to a tank highway. I also drive pretty hard so I am sure I could improve those numbers significantly... but who wants to?

                            EDIT: Oh ya, I drive a VR6

Its a diesel thing to fit more diesel in the tank.
