I want to remove the "Jetta" from my 2003 Wagon and replacing it with a cutom badge - can anyone suggest a way to take these off without damaging the finish?

For those interested, check out www.youremblemhere.com for these custom badges.

yea its easy.. buy some goo gone from crappy tire and dental floss and a get a hair dryer.. make sure car is clean.. lightly warm up the emblems with the hair dryer then squirt goo gone onto the back of them and it will eat the glue.. use the floss and work it over the back of the emblems and they should come off then use goo gone on a rag to clean up remaining black glue/gunk then wash with soap water and rewax the area

I didn't need to use the hair dryer. Just a little goo-gone and the floss.

Goo-gone and floss is definately the best way to do this....just be careful when rubbing the excess glue off. It takes a while to get it all off, but that doesn't mean that you should rub it harder....I learnt this the hardway

Best thing is just lots of goo gone and use your finger to gently massage away the glue.

Age has a lot to do with it as well as the backing gets harder over time. I debadged a 1998 Jetta and it took a long time, but when I debaged my Smart on the third day I had it took me less than 5 minutes to do.

Just take your time be gentle and then clean and wax and you will be all good!

Question Why would you debadge your car? Is there a purpose behind it? My Golf only has the VW symbol on the hatch which you can't remove. Not that I want to mind you.

I guess this gives your car a more unique look or something?

I should put on 50+ MPG to piss off the SUV drivers.

I'm not taking off the VW badge, just the "Jetta" badge to replace with "Jedi", what can I say, I'm a geek.
