      Re: Gas Milage!!

I am currently driving a 1.8T and getting less than 500km/tank. Going to clean the MAF and see if I can get an improvement. I will update on the results

I'll rephrase: With just a basic turbo upgrade, tune and mods to support it (the VNT17/22=TDI and KO4=1.8T) you will get 210HP TDI and 235HP 1.8T. Very similar.
At the more insane end of things the 1.8T can be modded to go to 600HP whereas the TDI will max out at 300HP, so at the top end the 1.8T will win no questions asked, however with the basic stuff that most people do, these two will be "roughly" similar.

Of course you can just rip out the entire engine and put in a 1000HP something or another in either one. But I was just comparing the basic mods to the basic mods, next step turbo, injectors, fuel pump, exhaust etc.

other issue here is with those torque numbers the stock clutch has no chance in a tdi . so more added cost . where the 1.8t clutch will hold untill 275 wtq roughly

My gti has a tune, exhaust and intake and it still has the stock clutch holding up fine.

give me a call i have probably 200 clients with just that scenario and never had a clutch not hold ... the dual mass shits the bed at 160000 kms. seriously had to do every alh chipped car if we do chip and nozzels the clutch instantly is done .For reals this is the case . your car may have had some previous abuse prior to your ownership . but not the norm to need a clutch from just the basic upgrades ,

Thanks for bringing this back on topic. There are numerous items you can check, but first of all check your driving habits and don't accelerate as fast, start slowing down/taking your foot off the gas as you notice you will be coming to a stop etc

                            Re: Gas Milage!!

I usually let of the gas until about 3 car lengths then go into neutral until I stop then go to 1st. But I do love the feel of being pushed into my seat by the car so my acceleration say onto a highway is fast but controlled(so as to not cause accidents or cut anyone off.) I wont accelerate if there is a lot of traffic. But yea usually I might manage 490-500 with my summers on but the winters I get 400 max XD.

I briefly tried running my tires at 60 psi in the back and 62 psi in the front. My gas mileage went down drastically. I doubt that I got 80 km out of that tank!! .
