I'm guessing this board is mainly Canadian.
What's the deal with reg plates over there.

Do you not have to display one at both front and rear of vehicle.
Here you can be prosecuted for failing to display both,
but most Canadian/ US vehicles I see only have one at the back?

            Re: Registration plates

I'm supposed to be rocking the front plate now. But I've learned 2 things about that since moving to Cali...
            1) You can get away with murder when you have a foriegn plate
            2) Cops here are generally too busy with more important things like gang shootings to really give a crap about a stupid front plate violation.

                  Re: Registration plates

Maybe because it was costing too much to produce those extra front plates? Has to be answer somewhere.

AB Front license plates were eliminated in 1990. Partially, due to savings (est. @ $700,000 at the time) while the remainder was due to lobbying auto manufacturers in an attempt to increase airflow for the new CFC-free air conditioners.

P.S. Mention has been made of attempts in AB to reinstate the two-plate system though!! Motion was made in 2000 by then MLA Rob Lougheed to reinstate the use of front license plates in Alberta. Not sure if anything has happened since then.

P.S. Can you tell I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do at work today.

I see little to no purpose in having a front licence plate on a vehicle.....
